What
exactly does Frontpage Hosting
mean?
Many people speak about Frontpage
hosting when they really mean Frontpage support. If a web host has
Frontpage support it just means that they have what are called Frontpage
extensions in the web hosting control panel that can be turned on which
will allow you to upload your website's files to your web host's server
via Frontpage.
For example, let's say that you
built your website using Frontpage and now you're ready to upload it to
your web host's server. First login to your web hosting control panel
and click on the Frontpage icon. Now you can turn on the Frontpage
extensions. Once the Frontpage extensions are turned on just open your
website in Frontpage and click on File>>Publish Site. You will be
prompted to put in your username and password then once that is done
Frontpage will upload your website to your web host.
Do I need to
upload my website with Frontpage if it was built on Frontpage?
No, another option is to upload
your site using FTP (File Transfer Protocol). FTP is easy to use, simple
to set up, and it doesn't have to cost you any money. There are plenty
of free FTP programs available such as
CoffeeCup FTP and CoreFTP.
Do most web hosts support MS
Frontpage? Yes,
it's extremely difficult to find a web host that doesn't have Frontpage
extensions as they are a standard part of a web hosting control panel.
In fact, we've never found a web host that doesn't support Frontpage
extensions. |
