Hostgator Web Hosting Review
How
Did PerfectFitHosting.com Evaluate Hostgator?
In order to properly evaluate a company that provides
a service such as web hosting, one of the important things
you must find out is how the majority of their customers feel
about the company. To find out how Hostgator's customers
feel about the service they receive, we searched the web for
customer reviews to get an idea of what the average Hostgator
customer thinks of Hostgator.
We have two hosting accounts with Hostgator,
and we have called their customer service phone number several times
with a variety of questions. Every call was met with a
friendly and qualified customer service rep from Hostgator. There is no substitute for experience,
and since opening our first Hostgator account in February
of 2005, we have been very happy with them as our web host.

Last
but not least, we took a careful look at the Hostgator website,
taking into account all that they have to offer from their
different hosting plans to the value that they provide for
their customers.

Evaluation Summary
As you could have guessed
if you saw our home page and noticed that Hostgator was our
top recommended host, we have a very positive overall opinion
of the services that they offer. Their other customers have
a very positive view of Hostgator as well. We spent several hours on the internet
reading customer opinions of Hostgator, and people seemed
very happy with them. Helpful and reliable phone support was
mentioned several times. This is something that you'll think
is very important when you need to talk you your web host
and you need to talk to them right now.
What stands out about Hostgator's web hosting plans is that they allow unlimited
domains in all of their hosting plans starting with the plans
that costs $9.95/month and up. There is also a plan that costs only
$6.95/month, but with that plan you can only host one domain.
Of course, you won't be needing unlimited websites, but you
may end up wanting 5, 10, 20, 30, or even more websites than
that. Provided that all of those sites aren't too big and
don't have too many scripts running all of the time, you can
fit them all in one hosting account for only $9.95/month.
You may not think that you'll be needing any more websites
than the one you have or want to start right now, but the
internet is only getting more popular and there is a good
chance that you'll want to start more sites in the future.
For only $9.95/month, you can have a reliable web host and
you can have as many websites as you want.
Another great feature of Hostgator is their month-to-month hosting contracts. Nearly every
other web host will make you pre-pay for a year or two years
at a time. Signing on for a long-term contract with your web
host puts you at a disadvantage. With so many different web
hosts out there, why should you have to make such a long
commitment
to one particular host? I don't think you should and evidently
Hostgator doesn't either. Starting with the $9.95/month plan
and up with Hostgator, you can avoid paying 1 or 2 years
in advance for your web hosting.
Unfortunately, the $6.95/month
plan doesn't include unlimited domains or month-to-month payments.
We can say with confidence that
the $9.95/month plan offers the best value of any plan. If you feel that $9.95/month is too
expensive because you don't need unlimited domains,
Bluehost is
also on our short list of the top 6 web hosting companies
and they offer hosting for up to 6 domains in one account
for $6.95/month when you sign up for 2 years.

Even if you know that you
only want 1 website in your hosting account, the $9.95/month
plan from Hostgator may be the best value for you. How could
that be if many other competing plans with single domain hosting
are as cheap as $5.00/month or even less? For one, you'll
never know if you may want another website in the future,
and even if you didn't end up wanting to add another site,
Hostgator's month-to-month no contract payment plan allows
you to quit whenever you want without paying in advance
for 1 or 2 years, which can cost you as much as $200.
Hostgator combines unsurpassed
value with great customer service, an excellent reputation,
a lot of happy customers(including us), and a variety of different
hosting plans to suit almost any possible customer.
Once you're signed up with
a web host you will expect reliable servers and dependable, prompt customer
service. Those are the qualities that will make your experience with them a good
one, and they are also the qualities that Hostgator customers
mention quite often when describing the service that they
have received.
What different hosting
plans are there and what do they offer?
Hostgator offers 4 different shared
web hosting plans. We took some screenshots from their website
to show you what is offered in the different plans.

Hatchling, at $6.95/month is not a
bad web hosting plan, but it's not a great one either. The
negatives of this plan are the fact that you have to pay yearly
instead of month to month and that you can only host one domain
name. If you don't want to spend $9.95/month for the Baby
hosting plan from Hostgator that allows for month to month
payments and unlimited domains, we would suggest
Bluehost. With Bluehost, you can spend only $6.95/month when
you sign up for 2 years and you can host up to 6 domains in
one account.
Baby, at $9.95/month is the best value
of any web hosting plan on the internet that I've seen.
Paying month to month as opposed to one or two year
contracts is the way to go. Consider that when you pay for 1 or 2 years
at a time, you're looking at $100 or $200 up front, and then
you're essentially married to that web host for that period
of time. Unlimited domains is also an amazing feature. Most websites take up relatively little
space and web hosts who don't allow multiple domains on a
single account are making a lot of money off of websites that
pay full price but only host one small site. With Hostgator,
you can really get your money's worth by adding as many
sites as you want as long as they will fit in your account,
and like we said earlier most sites are small which means
you can fit A LOT of websites into one Hostgator account.
For example, maybe the site that you need now is for your
business. Your business site will most likely be the largest
site in your Hostgator account. Along with your business
account, you will have enough space left over to host your
blog on it's own domain, build a personal site for someone
else, build a personal site for you, build a site for an
event such as a wedding, or any number of things.
Swamp, at $14.95/month is also a great
value. It's 50% more expensive than Baby, but if you think
that you will need the extra space, it's still great deal.
We recommend starting with Baby to save money and if
you end up needing more space, you can just upgrade to Swamp.
The Semi Dedicated hosting plan is
for webmasters that will be running a lot of scripts and getting
a lot of traffic on their large websites. If you know that
you'll be needing a lot of extra server resources,
then this is an excellent option.
