How Did PerfectFitHosting.com Evaluate Lunarpages?

Lucky for us, Lunarpages was the first web host that we used when we got started online. We were fortunate that we didn't have to deal with being introduced to the internet by a bad web hosting company. Our personal experience with Lunarpages played a major role in our evaluation of their web hosting plans.

Beyond our personal experience with Lunarpages we did quite a bit of research into what their other many customers think of the service that they have received, and what we found was a lot of happy customers.

In addition to our experience and other customer's opinions, we took a close look at Lunarpages' web hosting plans and compared them to their competition.

Evaluation Summary

As mentioned above, Lunarpages was the first web hosting company that we ever used. As internet newbies, we called them on the phone a lot with help for this or that and they were very helpful. They were always able to answer questions to our satisfaction and they were always available.

Research into general customer opinion of Lunarpages revealed a lot of happy customers. Similar to our experience with them, general customer opinion of Lunarpages was that their customer service was always accessible, always friendly, technologically capable, and that their servers are very reliable.

A recently added feature to Lunarpages is a free domain name for life. This means that for as long as you stay with Lunarpages, they will pay for your domain registration every year. When you consider that domain registration costs $8-$10/year and web hosting costs close to $100/year, you are essentially getting a 10% discount on your web hosting. While in our opinion this shouldn't be your entire reason for choosing a web host, it can be a beneficial deal if you keep your web hosting plan with Lunarpages for a few years.

If you've read any of our other reviews, you know that multiple domain hosting offers unrivaled value to the customer. While Lunarpages doesn't offer unlimited domains in one account like Hostgator or 6 domains in one account like Bluehost, they do offer 2 domains in the same account. So if you are sure that 1 or 2 domains is all you will be needing in your hosting account then Lunarpages provides a great value and a great solution.

As with almost every other web hosting company, Lunarpages requires that you sign up and pay for at least one year at a time or more to avoid paying a $30 setup fee. While we can't really hold this against them because almost every other company does it, we think it would be nice if more companies would offer month-to-month payment plans because as a customer we appreciate month-to-month payment plans. Hostgator, our number one recommended web host does offer month-to-month web hosting payment plans.

Lunarpages also offers ASP support. If you don't know what that is, then you don't need to be concerned with it, but if you do need it, then Lunarpages offers a great solution. For only $1 extra per month, they can offer ASP support for your website. That amounts to $8.95/month and that happens to be one of the best values for ASP support that we've seen if you include the fact that you still get the option of hosting up to 2 domains on the account. At $7.95/month, the Shuttle plan is competitively priced and has a lot to offer. Most web hosting companies offer similar features, but what sets Lunarpages apart from the crowd is the extras that they have available. These extras include features such as ASP and JSP support for only $1 extra per month.

At $22.95/month, the Voyager plan offers twice as much storage and twice as much bandwidth as the Voyager plan while also offering up to 4 free domain names for as long as you keep your Lunarpages web hosting account.

Lunarpages does offer a lot of storage and a lot of bandwidth with their web hosting plans, but keep in mind that most people don't even come close to reaching their storage and bandwidth limit. For this reason, we think that most people would find a better value with Hostgator's $9.95/month plan, but if you do decide to go with Lunarpages it is a good bet that you'll be very pleased with the service you receive from them.
